Just getting our summer plans in order and, once again, we are going to be in way too many places. Any tips on what to see, do and EAT would be greatly appreciated. And if any of you happen to be around and we can make it happen I would love to meet up. Most of the time I will be with my husband and 15 year old daughter... both very adventurous when it comes to food.
July 12-16 Phoenix We are staying at the Marriot Camelback (taking advantage of reward points and low season deals). 16-21st we are renting a place in Williams AZ with some friends (2 adults and 2 teenage boys, also food positive). We want to go to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Monument Vally... 21st to 24th Las Vegas for a 20 anniversary party. Staying at the Bellagio and there will be a dinner at the Yellowtail there, otherwise no plans. 24th to July29th Cleveland to visit my brother. Only thing planned is a day at Cedar Point and a baseball game. 29th to 31 Altoona PA for a family wedding. That is pretty booked out. 31st to Aug. 12 Mansfield PA, family. I want to go to Ithaca for a day or 2 and eat at Moosewood. 12th to 15 New Preston CT hanging with my other brother. 15th to 19th Brooklyn. Picking up my oldest to stick her into school. My husband is going home around the 10th.
Next year I am going to go to a beach and plonk my but in the sand for a week.

I can't give you any tips on those places Mary, but have a wonderful time. I can see your beach idea for next year. That's a lot of stuff you will be doing! Out of curiosity is there anything you will try to find to bring home? Jello?

I know, it is a bit crazy. In a perfect world I would have gone home after the family wedding (or better yet not had a 20th anniversary party and wedding the same summer on opposite ends of the country). The college thing is also problematic as we didn't want to do such a fast turnaround with another whole set of tickets.
I usually bring home unflavored gelatin as it comes in sheets here instead of ground and I somehow always mess it up when I use it. My husband always brings back Triscuits and English muffins. He also asks any person he knows traveling to (or from) the US to bring him these. I just pick up random things that catch my eye. The dollar is at an all time low so I will probably concentrate more on clothes and perhaps an ipad.

I've just messed it up every time I have used it. It has been a very long time but I feel a bit jinxed. Mary

WOW Mary that is some vacation. You'll be everywhere and yet no where near me...lol. Maybe one year you'll find yourself in Michigan and then I'll come find you. Have a lovely trip.

Oh thanks Karen! This is a long delayed trip. I stayed in Canton with my aunt in 1972 while my cousin stayed at my house and she promised to take me. Unfortunately there was a giant flood in PA and OH just had rain every day so it was postponed for a bit. Let me at that waffle!

There's a Jeni's Ice Cream in Chagrin Falls, which is near Cleveland. I've been to the one in Dublin, OH, and it was pretty awesome. Plus, you can tell everyone you've been to Chagrin Falls.
