OK here are the goods on Bellagio: We ate here, probably the most traditional food. http://www.bellagiosilvio.com/This restaurant is in town, very cute, great terrace and very good food. http://www.ristorantebarchetta.com/index.php?cat=2&lang=enIf memory serves me, this is the place with the amazing mussels. Ristorante Bilacus S.N.C. Salita Serbelloni, 32, 22021 Bellagio Como, Italy +39 031 950480 And we stayed here: Very charming, great pool, great service, fantastic view. I believe we ate lunch here too and it was quite good. http://www.belvederebellagio.com/default.aspx?SetLCID=1033&ID=6Mary

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited. Nance, I'm going in the beginning of September (next Thursday to be exact), so I'm bummed that I'll miss you! I do get to NYC at least once a year and would love to meet up then! I'll be "tripping" for two and a half weeks. Paul, I guess I won't even try for that restaurant! Wino, We'll try our card... Mary, Jean, Kathy/Pete (sorry I get confused sometimes about which one of you posted ) I appreciate the info! And Amy, always glad to "see" you (going to buy some amadei chocolate (porcelana) in Italy. Woo hoo! There is one restaurant near Como that a chef friend of ours recommended, Locanda de Isolda. We have lunch reservations for there. One of the Nancys

I did read that book Nance. I took notes. Which arrondismonte are you staying in? As I said, I'll be in the 6th, at least at the beginning of the trip.
Have a wonderful time!!!

I'm baaaaack! Great trip, amazing food. @Mary: Went to Bilachus, in Bellagio and it was wonderful! Hiked the hard trail of the cinque terre (and it was HARD), in order to balance out the eating. @Nance: We went to two places in Paris which were really good: A la Biche au Bois 45, Avenue Ledra-Rollin 75012 Paris phone: 01 43 43 34 38 (I think it is near the Gare de Lyons and Bastille Metro stops) Really good coq au vin, casual place, friendly staff. The other was called Oscar, a less casual place but really good food. I had excellent duck breast. Address: 6, rue de Chaillot 75106 Paris phone: 01 47 20 26 92 in or near the 8th arrondissement. Drove through parts of Italy and now I want to make my own pasta (actually have been interested for a while). I need recommendations for good pasta sheet machine/rollers (which I hope to use in my baking too), good pesto genovese recipes among others which I will request later TIA Nancy

Hey Nance, I'm excited for you! I wish that I could remember the name of the boulangerie in the left bank that sold us a hot, fresh from the oven baguette. We had a good time walking around there. Never got to fauchon, but managed to find all kinds of food places Have a blast! Another Nancy

Nance, I just reviewed my new Food and Wine magazine and it has a lot of stuff on French food, but also restaurants, hotels and sweet shops in Paris. It's the October issue. You might want to check it out. The other N
