Folks,
I'll be going to New Orleans for a conference, September 14-18. I'll be staying at the Hyatt near the Superdome. Recommendations for places to eat, especially Sunday Brunch?

A friend of mine owns a little Italian place in the Central Business District, and she does a great Sunday brunch. I've eaten there a couple of times (I even cooked during Mardi Gras 2 years ago!) and everything is really made from scratch. I know you're not looking for meat, but Roseann is even curing her own guanciale and making her own jams & preserves. She's getting pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor, FWIW. Red Gravy Cafe http://www.redgravycafe.com/http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60864-d1935942-Reviews-Red_Gravy-New_Orleans_Louisiana.htmlIt might be a bit out of the way for you, but if you do go, tell Roseann I said "Hi". I highly suggest a snoball from Hanson's! They make the syrups from scratch, and they invented a machine that makes an extremely fine shave. I had a satsuma cardamom last trip. I can't wait to get back.

Kathy,
Actually, that looks pretty close to my hotel. I have no idea how large the blocks in New Orleans are, though ...

Really? Nothing else?
I figured folks on this board would have more opinions about where to eat in The Big Easy.

The latest bon appetite interviews actress Keri Russell re: her latest shoot there. She recommends: Boucherie, Patois, Velvet Espresso Bar, Lilette, and Sylvain.

There was a great restaurant in an old house on the trolley line. I think the house was yellow or pink, but I can't remember the name. Cochon and Cochon Butcher are supposed to be good, but I believe y'all are vegetarian?

It's been years since I have been there, but I like the Gumbo Pot and the Acme Oyster Bar.

I think Becca is describing the restaurant I was going to recommend, but cannot remember name either. I think chef/ owner is Susan Spicher, so that might help you find it.
