Kathy,
We were in Charleston/Kiawah and Beaufort with friends in February. The restaurants are wonderful and really very inexpensive.
Our best meal was at Fish Restaurant (

The Craftsman Kitchen and Tap House is a great place for lunch and a selection of 40 beers on tap. The crunchy dame sandwich with bbq pork belly was incredible.
If you are in for a splurge, The Ordinary is extra-ditto.
http://eattheordinary.com/wp-content/up ... 4-food.pdfThe Kiawah shopping center (30 miles south) has a wonderful pizza joint. The LeCreuset outlet on King Street has close-out prices on wonderful tri-ply stainless cookware.
You should try some low-country specialties and I'd suggest the gumbo. It is much lighter than New Orleans gumbo and very refreshing. I developed a recipe after having some in Beaufort in February.
