OMG PSU Farmer's market. I just picked up a big bag of havested-yesterday chantrelles for $12/lbs. Plus a half-gallon (!) of padron peppers for $5. |

Did you fly or drive? It's a long drive but very beautiful at this time of year |

Wino, Drive. I'm here for 2 weeks, so it seemed worthwhile to have the car. |

Specifically, I was thinking of your going by way of 101 but it is another 2 hours instead of the 5. I used to drive between Eureka and the Bay area frequently during my undergrad years - very beautiful. BTW, NYTimes had this about Portland: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/04/travel/8-portland-ore-meals-for-8-or-under.html?action=click&contentCollection=Weddings%2FCelebrations&module=MostEmailed&version=Full®ion=Marginalia&src=me&pgtype=article |

Wino, The 101 is *significantly* more than 2 additional hours. Try an additional day. I've actually been cooking a lot. The house we rented has a beautiful kitchen with a Viking stove, and a grill. And I came up here with a basket of home-grown tomatoes and basil. |
