I was talking about this jokingly somewhere, maybe here or in person with friends - we recently had a chance to actually use the microwave to take cold red wine and make it more of a drinkable roomish temp. It actually worked fantastically to just take the chill off the wine. We used a pyrex measuring cup, then just poured into our glasses. We compared the stuff that had not been temperature moderated with the micro, and it did not have the flavor. No detriment that we saw. I can't wait to do this in front of my wine snob friends.
