Am trying in earnest to cook from the freezer for the next month. It's full and we have a hockey meat fundraiser coming up in mid-June so I will need space for all the steaks/chicken that we buy from that. The funny thing is that I'm going through the "take one thing out and put it back in another format" right now. I took out all the buns that had been put in there and made breadcrumbs. Then I took out a pork loin and am dicing the leftovers for fried rice. How's everyone's freezers looking these days?

This is a constant problem at my house. Freezers are jam-packed and I'm desperately trying not to buy anything else. At this point, however, I can't find things in there so in desperation I end up buying more and at some point I do find what I was looking for. Recently I defrosted both big freezers and threw out a lot of old stuff (I won't tell you how many duplicate items I found). For a while I actually had extra room but now that's gone. I think I have a problem.

We bought a chest freezer in Dec and my life is so much easier. I can actually find things now. We made a list of everything that went in and I actually use it. I've not bought any new meat since then. We've been cooking from the garden and freezer for several months now, and I love it. When we got it, I did throw away some stuff that was pre-food saver. I also cleaned out my spices and part of the pantry (mainly sugar, chocolate and flours, e.g., baking stuff). Feeling pretty good now, so hoping no great sales come my way.

To quote "Try a little priest." Or a shepard's pie peppered with actual shepard on top...
