can't shut it down EB, this is quite fun. My mil used to serve bologna salad to my hubby. And tuna casserole was a fixture. To this day I cannot serve anything with the word "casserole" in the title, he won't eat it on principal.

One I remember distinctly, unnamed as far as I know, was to take raw ground beef, place it on slices of white bread, then broil until the uncovered bread was burnt, the outside of the meat was done, and the inside was raw.

What, no Velveeta?

Three words: Crown Weenie Roast. To cross over from another thread. We actually tried making it ... too bad I lost the pictures, was in the pre-digital camera days.

I've been moved! I think that's twice now. How many do I need to win?

Hi,

I know there's a recipe for my favorite (in this category). I remember canned cream of asparagus soup, lime jello, cream cheese topped with canned fried onion rings. (Why is there no barfing icon?)

My mother used to make this thing called Cherokee Casserole. From what I can remember it was instant rice topped with chunky and sickeningly sweet tomato sauce, ground beef, cheddar cheese, and maybe had some torn up bread pieces in it. Bake in a 13 x 9 at 350 for 40 minutes and you can feed an army, cheap (we didn't have much at times growing up).

To this day I call it Vomit Casserole. I knew that those evenings I a) would be put on restriction for some amount of time for calling it that and b) go to bed hungry. To this day the thought of it makes me gag.

I recently went to a restaurant where they served a seared liver in chocolate sauce. Don't pretend to think it could work: it doesn't. It was the final course of a multi-course meal and there was a lot of it on top of that. Not a great way to finish, or start for that matter, and not fun explaining to the waitstaff that both myself and my wife weren't too fond of it.

Just remembered I came across boiled sheep's lung in Munich recently. I've had haggis before - it really doesn't taste like much. But here it was, staring me right in the face: boiled sheep lung.

With potatoes.

I was *actually* thinking of getting it just to say that I had.
