http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/codlo/codlo-a-powerful-compact-controller-for-sous-vide This is tempting. It seems like the level of sous-vide cookery I'd be interested in. |

That does looks like something I would want as well. It looks as it it will be a while before it is available here though. |

Well, it does say that if you're one of the backers, you'll be one of the first in the world to get one when they go into production. Nifty little device...won't circulate the water like my immersion circulator, but as JB said, likely a good entry level way to experiment with SV. Amy |

I am going to be on look out for this.....seems like a good entry level way into SV without mortgaging the house. |

I love the idea, but of course, dropped the bucks for a "ghetto sous vide" unit as some like to term them. Only downside I possibly foresee is thermal layering. I purchased an optional bubbler unit for mine that help keep it minimize that. |

I've got an Auber controller http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... ucts_id=44 that I use with my slow cooker. It may not be perfectly accurate (it sometimes varies 1-2 degrees) but it works for me. I especially like bringing steaks to temp and then quickly searing them. It also works well for my lutefisk! ![]() |

There's another sous vide apparatus on Kickstarter that doesn't require a rice cooker - just an ordinary pot. I know some people who contributed at the level to get it. It seems to be more popular than the other one. It's called the Nomiku - and you should watch the video - the lady is soooooo earnest: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nom ... ur-kitchen |

The Nomiku circulates which is important. But in googling it, it seems it will retail for $359. While that's $150 less than PolyScience's creative series, it's still not a small amount of money. fwiw, I use my full-size PolyScience on my stockpot all the time. I only use a cambro if I'm SVing large items or quantities of food. Amy |
