Not really, but a trip to the compost pile yesterday resulted in a trip to the emergency room, hence my current distaste for it.
We were having a dinner party last evening for out-of-town friends who I hadn't seen in 15 years. I was prepping before they arrived and went out with a big bowl of scraps. As some of you are probably aware, we had an early winter storm come through on Wednesday. I thought the snow on the deck was just that, but it turns out it was covering a sheet of ice. I slipped and landed on my right hand, and there was no question I broke my wrist.
Fortunately, my friends arrived about 20 minutes later (they called about three minutes after I went down) and they took me to the ER. They were going to give me Propofol in order to set it (I knew I had something in common with Michael Jackson), but in the end gave me a numbing block. Hearing your own bones being put back in place is an experience I never care to repeat. The ER physician doesn't think it will require surgery, but i have to go to see the orthopedic surgeon next week.
I think I'll wait until then to inform the restaurant of my condition. I'm not going to be able to work for at least six weeks. Thank God it's off-season.
I may not be posting too much either. I suck at one-handed typing.

Very sorry to hear that, hope it heals swiftly and well. I've broken a wrist (and the opposite elbow at the same time!) and it is no fun.

Damn compost heap! Good nutrition, sleep, vitamins including calcium, D3 and zinc will help to ensure healing. Mid-December will be here before you know it. Best wishes for a pain free and speedy recovery.

Whoa, sorry to hear about the wrist. Are you sure it was the compost heap's fault? I'd be inclined to blame the deck. I know for sure that mine is out to get me.

My wife has broken both wrists twice and on one occasion both at the same time (falling down concrete stairs after catching the toe of her shoe in the wide cuff of her pants) It made for a ‘closer’ relationship . My only advice is to do all of the physio they recommend even though it will hurt a lot. You will be VERY thankful down the road - for ever after.
