Post subject: | Any new veggies being planted this year? |
I already have my greens planted, and I have three new varieties, to add to my favorites - a red savoy cabbage, January King 3; a purple kohlrabi, Azure Star; and an Italian Swiss Chard (sorry, I had to do that) Argenta 2. I have a lot of new tomatoes, many coming in trades when I asked for ANY tomato that would resist these heat waves I have been getting, that greatly reduced my tomatoes later season output the last several years. I'll see if they work out. New Tomatoes: BKX - Black krim potato leaf Black Hole Sun Cherry Blue Tears Cherry (another free sample, but I have to grow at least one, being a Tom Wagner tomato!) Champagne cherry Cheetham's potato leaf Flamenco Malachite Green (didn't want to try to spell the real name!) Nichols Heirloom Purple Bumblebee Pink Bumblebee Sweet Carneros Pink I'll only be planting 4 old varieties, to go with all these new ones! Black cherry Green Zebra Porter Cherry Sunsugar New Eggplant (not really new, just haven't grown it in a long time): Thai Pea Eggplant New pole beans: McCaslan 42 pole Chinese Mosaic Long bean St Fiacre Pole beans New Snow/sugar snap Pea: Swiss giant carouby New Herbs: Thai Holy Kaprao Basil (not new to me, but new variety) Wild Thyme (sort of a ground cover...why not have something that smells good?) And, I finish with the PEPPERS! Less new ones here, and many of the new ones are the superhots, so I'll only be growing one of each, just out of curiosity. Old favorites: Fresno Habaneros- Gold Bullet Red Savina White Bullet Hanoi Market Jalapeño - Ixtapa Lombak Maui Purple Superchili Superthai Thai Red Demon Thai Superhot (evergreenseeds) New for 2014: 7-pot yellow 7-pot red Aji Crystal Ancho Mexican Large Carolina Reaper Habanero - Mustard Jalapeño - Craig's Grande Mogul Scorpion Numex - Big Jim Puya Thai Burapa Also, most of those seeds I offered to all of you on Last year's seed thread are still available, if anyone is interested. I will bump it up, just in case. And let me know if any of the new ones sound interesting - some I have a LOT of seeds for. |
