Thought it might be fun to share some of our great meals out. Especially since I just had one. ![]() I ate at "Gio Rana's Really Really Nice Restaurant" in Toronto tonight (really, that's the name) and had a fantastic meal. Crespelle stuffed with roasted butternut squash and a sage butter sauce, involtini that were pulled pork stuffed into ribeye and topped with goat cheese and a jus to die for, garlic smashed pots, garlicky and spicy rapini and a goat cheese cheesecake topped with lemon curd. Phenomenal. If you are ever in Toronto I highly recommend this place. Just don't be fooled by the exterior....or the interior for that matter. It really is a restauant and not a bank. Well, it's not a bank anymore. ![]() Anyone else want to post some favourites? |

Jean, It's not so recent anymore, but I ate at Art and Soul (Art Smith's restaurant) in Washington while I was at a conference there in June. The decor was odd in the extreme for Southern soul food (it was ultrachic Asian to match the hotel it was in I guess), but the food was to die for. I had the shrimp and grits with andouille as an appie (possibly the best thing I have ever eaten), followed by a duo of braised shredded pork and pork belly (I think) with black eyed peas and collard greens, and a sampler of mini desserts. We also went to Spike's burger restaurant (Top Chef) but it was *meh*. If I had had more $$$ to blow on food I would have gone back to see Art despite the weird Asian decor over and over again. |
