Went to Pacific Catch in San Francisco recently and got a peculiar thing which turned out to be excellent: jicama taco shells.
What they did was take a large jicama, peel it, slice it widthwise using a meat slicer around 2mm thick, then refrigerate it between damp towels for a day. The result was a "tortilla" which is actually a slice of jicama, and held together enough to eat a fish taco out of. Recommended for the low-carb dieting person in your life.
Anyway, what's the latest "weird but good" dish you've had in a restaurant?

I had a licorice foam on some fish in Denmark that was very yummy. Here in Switzerland, things generally go as they are expected to.
