Over the years I've accumulated lots of equipment-I can bake 8 dozen mini tarts or muffins at once. And I had the time to do batches of stuff, so that was easier as well. There were surprisingly few stains anywhere at all as we cleaned up after two evenings of party-and we had com prepared with covers for the hotel furniture and plastic sheeting for the wall near the fountain. It didn't get a splatter! As for how you get to one of these shindigs-my friends and I have thrown several of them at the Chicago area Science Fiction conventions. We only do one a year, and we've been happier with the hotel for WindyCon, which is in November, than with the one where Capricon is held in February. We may feel compelled to pull one off for the WorldCon which is coming to Chicago in 2012-around 6-7,000 people show up for that, and about 1,000 of them will be looking for parties. It's a blast.
