12 in. of snow, and it is just beginning to slow down. It is supposed to get down to 4° tonight, and only up to 11° tomorrow, with 20-25 mph. winds. I'm glad I'm off tomorrow!

No new snow here either but -25C and feels like -40C with the windchill. A good day to be at home but at least I am safely at work.

Cold, miserable weather days are just wonderful excuses to stay inside and cook and bake. I made a Pullman loaf on Tuesday. A big cauldron of soup is on the schedule now.

-35 here (-31 F) when I left the house this morning. Sadly, this is about normal for January here....why I live here, I'm not all that sure. We are due for yet another blizzard this afternoon, and it will be around freezing tomorrow supposedly. How we can warm up 35 degrees in a day is beyond me....but it's been par for the course here this winter.
I'd love to know how Sass' beef roast turns out. I have Pressure Perfect and Cooking under Pressure (I'm assuming it's in one of those). If it's good, I'll give it a shot.

Cooking Under Pressure p.75, I'm altering it in flavors only. I am very interested mostly in the cooking time which will be to her exact specifications. My alterations are: browning in rendered beef fat, home-made chicken stock mixed with beef bouillon (Bovril, 2 t / 8 oz or 10 ml/250ml), no carbs as we are heavily into Atkins - so it will be a runny sauce. My curiosity is her suggested cooking time of 60 min. at high pressure for 3.25 lb. roast - seems excessive. BUT it's a cold day so I'm inside experimenting

One of our engineers lives on Long Island, He complains a lot about weather, taxes, etc. I often ask him "and you live there why?" His best answer was "Because my wife lives there."

Yep. That sounds about right.
60 min seems long. Kuhn Rikon suggests 45. But worst case you get shredded beef...still low carb and tasty - good in lettuce tacos!
