All,
So the lovely cheap straw-thin asparagus continue to pour into San Francisco. They're down to $0.99/lbs now.
I just made asparagus tacos.
Any really creative suggestions? Kris is getting kinda tired of asparagus.

Hey Fuzzy! Here's a few ways we like it:
Roasted with oil and shaved parm Starring stir fry veggie with only a small cast of supporting veggies:) Cream of asparagus soup Steamed then marinated, cold in salads of all kinds Pickled, dill!
I'll be interested to see some other ideas too. Not as plentiful in AZ yet but I expect it any time now.
Oh, I also did a version just a few weeks ago with shaved ham that you'd have to find a sub for, but it was very good. Steam, then lay out one stem, a matchstick of Fontina, a slivered long length of green onions on a small piece (2"x3"?)of shaved ham. Roll and tie with green of onion so it's basically got a little package with tie around it's belly with cheese and onion poking out both ends. Lay 3 or 4 in a long dish and drizzle w/honey mustard creamy herb dressing. It was pretty and delish. Not sure what in the veg world you could use to sub for that ham though. .It was a small piece but maybe a long thin piece of steamed firm fish instead and just an extra wrap and tie w/green onion? Or even tofu? We all loved it and I'll likely make it again one day.

I'm boring, my favorite way is just cut into 1 inch pieces and sauted in a little butter and garlic to tender crisp.
Our local Chinese restuarant makes a fabulous chicken and asparagus in the spring. No local stuff here in Michigan yet, but soon.

Laurie Laurie, I'm anxiously waiting also. It's funny, because I used to hate Asparagus as a kid, and now I look forward to it every Spring.

In addition to the above, I also like it shaved (raw) and dressed on it's own, or as part of a salad.

How about in vegetarian sushi rolls? Would love to have that problem here, as well.

We've been getting some in the market, probably being sent in from CA. I have been paying $1.99 on sale. It will be .99 in another month or so.
I have 3 or 4 stalk that grow in my garden. I never notice them until they have gone to seed.
There is a produce market about 2 miles from my house, it's on the way to & from work. I was afraid they were'nt going to open this year because there was a little IRS issue. Well a big IRS issue, some went to jail and the market along with several homes and other holdings went up for public auction last month. The brothers that owned it all had a rich daddy and he bought it all back at the auction to the tune of 2.4 million. The market reopened today. So I guess I'll get fresh asparagus soon.
