Dang it, they are going to be growing ham in test tubes? A few hundred thousands pigs must be sighing with relief.

Doesn't sound disgusting to me, although it sounds a bit sterile, and I wonder how good it would taste since you wouldn't have any of the factors that would normally factor into taste like what food the animal eats. Is it more energy efficient? I suppose there would be less waste. I wouldn't rush out to buy some, but if it can be a solution to protein crises in developing countries or areas plagued by drought or disease it's worth looking into.
