Neither Lindsay nor Alina (whose daughter lives there) have checked into facebook either. Hoping everyone is safe!

My daughter moved from Boston to Newton last year around this time so she's ok and she only does half marathons and triathalons, thank goodness. The explosions were about 2 blocks from where she used to live. I walked that route with my granddaughter often. So far none of their friends were hurt. My heart goes out to all the folks who have friends and family who were, especially the children. The trauma does not leave you. I grew up with bombs exploding around me, and I still jump when I hear any noise resembling an explosion 50 + years later.

My thoughts and prayers are with those many injured and traumatized by this terrible event. I hope that everyone that has family and friends in the Boston area finds them safe. It is so sad to see this.

My niece and her extended family were there to cheer her father-in-law on during his 25th Boston Marathon. They left the finish line about half an hour before the bombs went off. I feel sick.

I have a colleague who crossed the finish line 10 seconds before the first explosion. She is ok, thank goodness.

My friend, who has run it for 13 years, couldn't make it this year....I am greatful he wasn't there, but so sad for this act against innocent athletes, spectators and a community. What is it about April that causes such violence....Oklahoma, Columbine, Virginia and now Boston.
