The Charleston Gazette just informed me today that they were cutting my newspaper column. I guess the few hundred dollars they will save is all they need to remain a viable entity  . I was half expecting the axe to fall at any time, but it still stings. I guess it does free me up to do a serious baking website with tutorials, although the competition is pretty stiff. I earlier thought about trying to get local publications to pick up my column, but I suppose print media is such a dinosaur it's probably better for me to concentrate on the web. Or maybe I should just pack it all in

I am sorry. You are probably right concerning web media tho. I want to cuss(curse for all you non podunks) them out, but am refraining.

Sorry, Darcie. I enjoyed your columns.  It really is their loss. I think your web idea is great. Most people do not subscribe to papers anymore. We still do, but are probably in the minority in our neighborhood.

Those whose job it is to count the beans will count all the beans. Then they will find a way to get rid of some. Perhaps they think that if they cut some small providers they can keep a "real" journalist.
It still sucks and they were wrong! wrong! wrong!
Your web tutorials will be amazing, I'm sure.
