I'm just sayin' :!: :o

I realize I'm preaching to the choir but I had to relate my most recent experience.

Got a little soft in the head when I picked up a recent copy of CI and decided to buy an all-inclusive (I can afford it and it's convenient).

I couldn't find an answer to whether the all-inclusive included something or other so I phoned the 800# which told me that due to "unexpected high demand due to their new offerings" no one could help, please call back...... WTF :?: :? (Hire more people, maybe?)

So, I sent 2 emails via their web site. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO :!:

How do they survive :?:

Thanks, I feel better now. :D

Much of the choir has gone soft in the head. You would be shocked and dismayed if you could see through our robes and see how copies of CI, CC, or tablets accessing the web site. are sequestered between the flowing folds. Welcome back. :o

Possibly there is a miscommunication here - I did not renew because of the continuance of their usual incompetence, which my examples were trying to illustrate; or, possibly, I do not understand your comment correctly.

There was an obvious fear that you had fallen off the wagon...or at least were tempted!

I've learned not to email, answers take forever. However, I did call because the charge for CC web was more than last year (pre bulk) and got a quick response and they did lower the price. In fact, they've been accommodating every time I've called over the years. I did do the bulk thing since I do use the web site often, mainly transferring some of the old tried and true to my Living Cookbook, and perusing taste tests. It is worth it to me. Not so the paper issues.

PS, when I've done something midstream and call, they have always prorated the price so I don't lose anything and have even given me extra time.

I've found that older companies really, really don't get email.

If we ever meet in person remind me to tell you my Tim Horton's email experience.

Good to hear...Just this week a "package" arrived at my door containing a book and a bill from ATC. I polity wrote "REFUSED" on it and it was off to it's happy home. CI, CC, And ATC pretty much have very little appeal to me anymore, I have volumes of magazines as well as the yearly hard back ATC products that contain more recipes than I will ever be able to try. Once in a blue moon I will pick up a copy just to read and have seldom been impressed or felt it added anything to my culinary life.

I think they have moved from innovative to mundane. Yawn...

Completely agree. There are so many better sources for inspiration and recipes.

I love Serious Eats, Ideas in Food, and so many other sources...

I want to send back the CI I just got in the mail...haven't opened it yet...but the OCD in me hates to not have a complete set! I probably won't even read it, though. What to do, what to do.

What I've been doing the past couple of years, just because they have been so bad at customer service, is to make them wait for their payment until they send the third reminder and the tone gets nasty. I'm not usually that passive-aggressive, but I take (rather shameful) delight in making them wait.
