Folks,
What other cooking magazines do you subscribe to? Which ones are you really happy with? Which ones do you get good recipes out of?
Currently I subscribe to Saveur, which I've been very happy with, and get about one really good recipe a month from. I used to subscribe to La Cucina Italia, but they went for volume-over-quality and I've stopped.

Currently the only magazine I subscribe to is Southern Living. I used to subscribe to CI, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, People , Time, Traditional Home and InStyle. It was too much - they didn't get read. Although that was too many, I think magazine subscriptions are still one of the better bargains out there for a year of entertainment. I'm looking to get a couple of new subscriptions, and am interested in what others like, was thinking maybe Cuisine at Home. It seems to get good reviews on the CI bb. I've looked over the Saveur website, and that looks interesting as well. trink.

I confess to being a magazine junkie....I need help! I currently subscribe to (and read) Gourmet, CI, Bon Appetit, Food and wine and Saveur. (and those are just the cooking related ones) If I have to wait in a check out line too long, I'll pick up Cooking Light or Martha to browse, then I end up throwing it in my card. Is their a support group I can join to break this habit? ilene

Frank Its not a problem of time, but my 401(k) has turned into a 401(c) so I need to watch it if I don't want to end up finding creative ways to cook cat food! Seriously, just how many magazines does a person need, even in good times. Its not like I cook everything in each of them. I think CI and Bon Apetite and Saveur are the ones I find most stimulating recipes. Gourmet was a gift over 40 years ago and I haven't been able to convince myself to cancel it. It has turned into more of a lifestyle/travel mag with most of its stuff out of my reach, so I just need to cancel it. ilene

I subscribe to CI, Cooking Light, Gourmet and am still getting BHG even though I unsubscribed over 3 years ago. I haven't been very enthusiastic with the recent issues of any of the mags but that could just be holiday overload. Nancy

Right now, I only subscribe to CI and I am going to let that lapse. I am going to pick up another subscription in its place (my limit is one right now with the economy the way it is). It is a toss-up between Saveur and Bon Appetit ... although the last couple issues of BA I saw weren't that thrilling to me.

Right now I don't subscribe to any magazines, but I think I want to pick up a couple subscriptions so I have something to read on the bus. I get the hardbound annuals for CI and CC so I won't spend the $$ on subscriptions. From the sounds of it, Saveur is one I want to pick up. I'll also probably get some kind of design/decorating magazine as we will want to do our kitchen down the road and I am a sucker for those mags anyway.

I subscribed to Saveur when it first came out but was somewhat underwhelmed, but it was its first 6 publications (and also overwhelmed with all my other subs at the time). With all these new recommendations I'm going to pick up a newstand copy and check it out. Thanks all! Nancy

Darcie, Nancy,
Five years ago, Saveur was more of a travel magazine than a cooking magazine. It's changed in the last few years. It's still a lot more about world cuisine than other magazines are, but now almost every article comes with several recipes. And, different from CC or CI, there's a lot more writing about food. But, if you're the kind of a person who would subscribe to both CI and National Geographic, I think you'll enjoy Saveur.
Warning, though: Saveur does sometimes cut recipes for space, and once or twice I've known them to render the recipe unusable that way.
