Another book I had to get!
I got it today, and glanced at it this evening, and it looks as good as most of the others she co-authored with her (ex)husband, Jeffrey Alford. Not as much garlic or hot peppers as in Thai or other SE Asian cuisines, but a LOT of shallots. I'll let you know when I try the recipes.
Anyone else have this yet, and try anything from it?

Dave,
Nope. The Chron reviewed it of course, as did Saveur. But I've been waiting for it to become available at the library to try it.
