I've read Heat. I remember that I enjoyed it, but nothing else about it. So it clearly wasn't all that memorable. |

I really liked it. I even went to the butcher he apprenticed with in Tuscany. Mart |

I have a love/hate relationship with "Best of ..." lists. I always read them and seldom agree. Where are James Beard, Craig Claiborne, Elizabeth David, Richard Olney, and Edna Lewis? fitzie |

I too enjoyed Heat but borrowed it from the library. I don't miss not owning it. I've only read 4 on the list! Mary, wonder if we can get that on my agenda for this summer? I wonder how the kids will feel about that as a tourist stop ![]() edit to add that Nancy and I cross posted...with the same thought, lol. |

I read it and liked it but buy it? Don't think so. You can definitely get it from the library. Nance |

Jean, it is a cute little town (Panzano, or something like that). My family was a bit puzzled, but they are used to my ways by now. Mary |

20. The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz 8. Heat by Bill Buford 7. Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl* 5. My Life in France by Julia Child 2. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain I haven't read nearly enough of them! I will asterisk the Reichl book because I have read two of hers and I am not positive this was one of them. The Jaffrey book is on the shortlist for "soonish." --Lisa Edited to add: My favorite is still "An Embarassment of Mangos." |
