Hey everyone, Tim here from ThermoWorks.

Thermapens are built to last years and years. Equally important, ThermoWorks runs a full repair and calibration shop with speedy and affordable service (any warranty issues and even many malfunctions after warranty are repaired free of charge).

As far as accuracy is concerned, the new Thermapens are accurate to within 0.72°F between -58°F and 392°F with a little less accuracy on the far upper range (accurate to within 1.8°F between 392°F and 572°F).

The best way to know how accurate your Thermapen is is to test it with an ice bath, but be sure to make a proper ice bath (see http://www.thermoworks.com/blog/2010/10 ... -ice-bath/ ). If your Thermapen ends up above 32.7°F or below 31.3°F, you should contact us at service@thermoworks.com...
