Shopping at Costco yesterday I picked up an Aroma rice cooker. It has cooking times up to 150 minutes so I think I'm safe in assuming it can cook farro. And in the event I should ever want steamed meat, it can do that, too! fitzie

We are all such enablers, aren't we?...
I think of us as our own little economic stimulus program.

Also steamed my arm and it hurts like %&*( fitzie This reminded me of a related problem I had the first time I used my rice cooker - the steam came straight up from that vent in the top, and hit the door of the cabinet above it. Gave me a scare, since it briefly clouded the polyurethane, but it cleared up as soon as it cooled. Even pulled right to the edge of the counter, the steam looked too close to the cabinet, so I came up with a steam diverter, which solved the problem. It is just a pint Chinese restaurant soup container, with a hole cut in the side, and the steam comes out at an angle through the hole. I just rinse it out, and put it back in the cooker when the insert goes back, and I use it without thinking about it. Thought I'd share this, in case anyone else has this problem. Speaking of rice, I am sitting in my upstairs computer room smelling the jasmine rice aroma from dinner (over 6 hours ago)! It is amazing how that smell lingers, even when those other intense smells are pretty much gone.
