Amy. my cabinets are natural (unstained) cherry. Like yours, they are custom, and seems a little porous. I use Murphy's, even over the stove.

Amy, fwiw I've taken off the finish on my cabinets with orange glo. I'd stick to Murphy's oil soap but I've not tried the other ones recommened here. My 10 year old kitchen cabinets finish has not held up well so maybe that's part of the issue.
I'm going to try Jim's faux chamois cloth, I've been usining a microfibre one and it leaves streaks.

Hi,
Does a catalytic conversion varnish allow you to be more aggressive with your cleaning? I'm thinking about use of orange oil solvents and such.

I only use Murphy's Oil Soap on my wood cabinets. I have one close to my range-top that gets quite greasy and the Murphy's takes it off easily.

I use diluted orange oil and this nifty gizmo that is shaped a bit like a scrub brush but is of a spongy material that holds a microfiber cleaning cloth. Works a wonder. I'd leave them grimy though before I started taking them down... I hope my husband never gets wind of that suggestion (wink).

I've been using Murphy's Oil Soap, but just wasn't feeling it got the job done. Perhaps I just need to switch the type of "scrubber" I'm using.
