My Aunt Dorothy, who just died at 102, and my Aunt Peggy, who died at 98, ate meat. But, the old fashioned way, and pretty much the way we eat it here: Large piece of meat on Sunday, and used up throughout the week until Friday when we have fish. The large "piece of meat" included chicken or Turkey. But not half of a plate of it, and lots of vegetables and fruit. And they moved. Up until a month before Aunt Dorothy died, she went out dancing every Friday night at the VFW, and had a cocktail every night before dinner. Aunt Peggy prided herself on having visited nearly every country except Agentina; she wanted to go for Carnivale in Rio. And she had an active social life.
Neither one of them like or ate frozen/prepared/packaged stuff. They said that they thought it had a funny undertaste.
