We have extremely hard water as well (why I have all white tile). We use the filtered water from the fridge for appliances. Lisa, I am glad you mentioned the sous vide. Mine should be here Tuesday and I am not sure I would have used the filtered water.

Just use a 10% white vinegar solution every couple of months and you'll be fine.
