Paul,
You're using the blade, not the point, to take out the pit, right? Just 'cause you said "stick" not "whack", I'm wondering.
And I'm wondering if Streep used the point.

Oh yes, the blade edge. Getting the pit OFF the blade can be dangerous; I slide the blade over the edge of my compost bucket.
