Fortunately, I’ve never been there – my wife and I try to avoid crowds and 500,000 is a crowd!
I lived there twice – ’72-’74 earning an MA and ’80-’82 running a 7 store clothing business – just prior to the Great recession. Both times were very enjoyable, food-wise, but going broke was no fun...

Edmonton has a huge Ukrainian and Chinese background but now, like most large Canadian cities, is extremely multi-cultural. My introduction to Ukrainian food was delightful and filling!! I grew up with a Chinese family so my background there was deep but everywhere is a little different.
Edmonton loves to party, has a large young crowd due to the University and other learning centers, some major sports teams and a diverse economy – though petroleum is a big one.
I would encourage anyone to try it but we won’t be there.
