I should never put anything on the stove when I'm playing with a new tech toy. I was sitting there playing with my new phone when I said to myself, "what's that burning smell?" Turns out I severely burned the tomato soup I was going to have for lunch. I've already tried Dawn Power Dissolve, but it didn't even make a dent in getting it clean. Suggestions?

Bummer. I burned a pan pretty badly once, soaked overnight with Power Dissolve, and the next day scrubbed and scrubbed with Barkeepers and an old-fashioned scouring pad. It took days of soaking and scrubbing, but finally came clean. Good luck.

I would try ammonia. Pour some in the bottom of the pan, then put the pan in a big plastic garbage bag. Tie it off and set it out of the way overnight.

This works on my oven racks.

Have you tried a stainless steel scrubber? The edges of the SS ribbons almost cut the crud off.

Hiba suggested the same thing when I posted about this on Facebook. I'm going to try it tonight.

Thanks!

I like to fill the pan with soapy water and let it boil for a while. Once in a while I scrape at the burned on crust. This will get rid of most of it, and elbow grease takes care of the rest.

Real deal CocaCola. Not diet. Full sugar. Works.

Hose it down with non-diluted liquid dishwasher detergent(cascade preferred brand here: except I've switched to tablet form). Fill with hit water and bring to boil and let sit, if you don't have any; until you can get some. Leave concentrate overnight, and clean/scrub. If that doesn't work-Carbon-0ff. Only thing I've picked up from 20+ years from MIL, fwtw. :D

Edit: if you don't have access to liquid cascade at the moment.

2nd edit: Carbon-Off not attributed to MIL. :)

Oh, I've never started something on the stove and got distr---oh, look a chicken!

My biggest boo-boos were both caramel in the Mauviel windsor pan. If you let caramel cook long enough it turns into hard foamy charcoal. Luckily since it's only sugar it came out with prolonged soaking and scrubbing. The LeCreuset, OTOH, has permanent scorch marks. :(
