Got this email today - the board is finally closing. Ask me if I'm surprised. " Hi all --
Unfortunately, we've made the tough decision to shut down the bulletin board system. As you all know, the boards have been inundated with spam and other technical issues, and the company that supported the software for the boards has gone out of business, leaving us with no way to make necessary repairs or improvements.
Next week, I'll be posting an official letter explaining this to the bulletin board community, and providing everyone with links to our other social media forums. But we wanted to send you all a personal note since you have been so active and helpful in maintaining the boards in recent months and, in some cases, years. As a thank you, we'll be mailing each of you a token of our appreciation.
Thanks for all your help. And if you're ever in the Boston area, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd be happy to show you around the test kitchen.
All the best,
Mari, Jacqui, and the BB team ------------------------------ Mari Levine Online Assistant Editor America's Test Kitchen 17 Station Street Brookline, MA 02445 http://www.CooksIllustrated.com http://www.AmericasTestKitchen.com http://www.CooksCountry.com

Yup, I also got the same email and posted it here. Not at all surprised. But what a shame. But the biggest shame will be all the great knowledge, and history, that was accumulated over the years, if you could find it, that is Nance

Merstar,
You failed to include the postscript from Mari Levine's email notification.
"As a parting gift, we are providing you with complimentary Automatic Preview Privileges: As a valued member of the Best Recipe cookbook series, you'll be among the first to preview future cookbooks as they are released, no more than two to three times each year. We will send you a notification postcard in advance of each cookbook. You may decline your preview copy by returning our notification postcard within 30 days. Otherwise, you will receive your preview copy at our lowest prevailing price plus shipping and handling. If you ever receive an unwanted cookbook, return it at our expense. You may cancel at any time."
Really nice,

SHOOT!!! I did not get an email, allowing as how I likely have peasant-like status. I guess they don't like me. They changed my screen name to shea. Oh, well. I wish, however, they woud preserve what is there. Some good stuff there.

The site now makes you have premium status. I can no longer get in to the equipment reviews. I can log in, it says I need to be a premium member to access the info though.

Laurie- I can log in, no problem for equipment reviews etc. I do pay a yearly fee however ($29?). I do not think that aspect of their site has changed.
Tim- MJ has not weighed in on the BB's demise yet. Perhaps she's still composing.
