I have no clue what "twitter" is, so I don't think I do it, unless it is an uncontrolled response, then I might do it

Hi,
It's like a blog with texts, quick updates on what's going on.

One of my new year's resolutions (non-kitchen) is to get more up to speed with what's going on. Maybe after a few months of trying to corral my new iPod and figure out texting I'll decide to crawl back into my comfy 1970's cave.

I have a Twitter account. If you like wine, you might want to check out my friend, WineDog.

What is Twitter?
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Why use Twitter?
Why? Because even basic updates are meaningful to family members, friends, or colleagues—especially when they’re timely.

Eating soup? Research shows that moms want to know.
Running late to a meeting? Your co–workers might find that useful.
Partying? Your friends may want to join you.

How does it work?
With Twitter, you can stay hyper–connected to your friends and always know what they’re doing. Or, you can stop following them any time. You can even set quiet times on Twitter so you’re not interrupted.

Twitter puts you in control and becomes a modern antidote to information overload.

----------

The notion of being hyper-connected doesn't seem very appealing to me... :!: :ugeek:

How does this differ from texting? I really am behind the times!

I don't Twitter, but AFAIK texting would be point-to-point with a specific recipent and Twitter is more of a broadcast model. Anyone who has your Twitter info gets your "tweets." I don't know how efficient it is as a 2-way communications medium - maybe you fall back to texting for that.

Lynn,

I'm on Twitter as "FuzzyChef". Despite the name, though, when I use Twitter (seldom) it's mostly for software engineering stuff.

Everyone Else:

Twitter is the unholy union of blogging and text messaging. It's the perfect medium for when you have nothing to say.
