I went to Fred's at the bowling alley in Roscommon Michigan last Saturday for lunch with a friend of mine. Roscommon is about two hours North of Bay City and if I was ever there once, now I have been there twice. We split an Artichoke, Spinach and Lobster dip. I had a Spinach Salad with Dried Cherries, Walnuts, Bleu Cheese and a Balsamic Vinaigrette. Mark had Prime Rib with a side of Green Beans and Rice Pilaf. I have to say this was one of the best meals I have had out in a long time. The food was excellent. The presentation was good and what makes it even better were the prices. Mark had a soda and an extra side with his meal. I had water and the total was only $33.00 with tax. I left a $7.00 tip. Who knew you could get an excellent meal in a bowling alley restaurant. |

Congrats on finding a hidden gem. We found all sorts of great restaurants in old strip malls in the Washington DC / Virginia area many years ago when we traveled there often. There is a good upscale restaurant here that is out in the boondocks, not even in a nice resort area, it's just stuck out there. I think if you have a good chef people will come. |
