I just put peanuts in the food processor and pulse until I have peanut butter. I know some like to add sugar or salt, but I like it as is.

All righty then. I have a Vita-Mix and my plan is to use a little powdered sugar and real butter, pour a beer, flip it on and watch. I am using roasted, salted peanuts for increased toastiness and to feed my salt addiction. Might have to make that wine a beer as PB and wine just ain't doin' it for me in the mental imaging department.

I'd try a bit of molasses instead of sugar, it's what's in Jif.

OK, nice to see the dark side startin' to weigh in; presumptuous of me to expect you up any earlier in the day - i do apologise! Since these are mistakes I don't mind eating, I'll be trying these ideas. THANKS!

FWIW, I just read a recipe that called for a bit of peanut oil to make the paste a bit smoother. I think this makes sense because the stuff that I have ground at WF is too thick and hard to spread once it has been refrigerated. Take care, Nancy

Thanks all - I incorporated all of the above (too late on the peanut oil). I used roasted, salted nuts, a little honey & molasses, butter, and a bit of canola into the Vita_mix. It's only okay. On the pro side, Ican leave it out on the counter and the oil does not separate. On the down side: it is a bit gluey in texture and the taste is 7 out of 10. I'm thinking peanut butter cookies are on my horizon. Unfortunately, due to low sales JIF is no longer available in Canada. I grew up on Skippy but JIF is so superior that my taste buds are asking for a cruise through the other guys - a bunch of no-names if I've ever seen one. Ah well...
