Thanks everyone. The first few hours of my 40's have been pretty good so far (well, except for realizing that I'm no spring chicken anymore). I have sat by the fire, sipped a triple shot latte, am playing hookie from work, and am being taken out to my fav Italian restaurant for dinner tonight (will post about what I have for sure!). Now if only I could convince my cat that the lightbulbs on the Christmas tree are not snacks. He gets himself well in where I can't reach him and crunches away. DH is secretly hoping that this might end the Lampoon Christmas way...but I have a softer spot in my heart (most of the time) for the little fart.

So, fantastic dinner last night. The appie was a soft shell crab served with a green salad with lime chili vinaigrette. My entree was a veal chop stuffed with pancetta and creamy leeks, lightly coated in a Parmesan panko crust and served with a red wine sauce, straw potatoes and roasted seasonal vegetables, and dessert was a saint honore torte. Chocolate pastry cream between 2 layers of puff pastry, drizzled with caramel and served with a raspberry coulis, creme anglaise, and berries. All washed down with The Woodcutter Shiraz and coffee. So good!
Tonight I broke in my new stove with tagliatelle bolognese. Bruschetta to start and a green salad with lemon vinaigrette as a side. So much better than what I tend to feed myself when I'm on my own.
