My guess is that underneath that packaging there are small disks that fit in the bottom of each of the cavities.

Amy Amy, I thought the same thing but could not find them in the packaging, I spend a few minutes looking. I might need to go back and look again.

Maybe you line them with paper cupcake cups? Seems to me that the ones I've seen sold have the discs included though. Odd that these don't.

I'm thinking the bottom pan (round) would hold ice cream cones filled with cake batter. I'm not sure if that's the original intent, but it would probably work. The top pan still has me confused. What if you turned it over and laid flour tortillas over the squares and baked them to make tortilla bowls.

If you use a paper liner, then the hole on the bottom will make it easier to push out the baked goods.
