Hi All,
I have about a decades worth of Cooks Illustrated mags, and I remember on the old BB people raving about this or that chocolate dessert but I haven't ever made any of them. I'm just not a huge dessert maker, normally, because there are only two of us.
We are having a few extra folks for Thanksgiving this year and I want to make an extra dessert, something sinfully chocolate, on top of the two pies I will make.
Does anyone have anything to recommend for me?
Thanks,
--Lisa

I'd say the sour cream chocolate bundt cake or the chocolate caramel walnut tart.

Thank you, Amy. I know that I should invest in an index... but I have the original mags and the hardcovers are too expensive for me to justify.

Actually Lisa, I don't have an index. I simply went on their website and searched for the recipes. While you cannot view the recipe without an account (which I no longer have), you can see the date of the recipe.

I love love the sour cream bundt and to make it extra special and decadent I bake in 9 inch layers (suggested on TOBB) and frost with a ganache or CI's milk chocolate frosting (but use semi sweet chocolate) or even the old fashioned chocolate cake frosting.
And not a CI recipe, but the chocolate stout cake on the epicurious site is also pretty darn great. But huge.

I've made the chocolate sour cream cake as rounds as well. And, my favorite filling is Pierre Herme's chocolate caramel ganache. God, now I'm craving it...
