Thank you, everyone, for all your input and suggestions.
Well, we are probably going out to Sears to buy the Kenmore Elite 31 cu. ft. today... and the Whirlpool upright freezer... the sale ends today & they are giving us an extra 10% off. I wish I knew when / if there are usually major appliance sales during the year. Is there usually one around Labor Day? or before Thanksgiving?

As with most major purchases, the best time to get a deal is when they're introducing new models, and with appliances that's in the late Summer/Fall. Of course, there are usually sales over some holidays, e.g., Memorial Day, so as long as you feel you're getting a good price, I'd not sweat it too much.
I just bought an upright freezer. I'd highly recommend you check your local craigslist to see what's available. A lot of people buy full-size upright freezers only to discover they really don't need them, and end up posting them on craigslist. I got a fabulous deal on one that way.

Omni R200 Refrigerator and Icemaker Water FilterWe did just as Jim suggested...much better than the manufacturer filter.

Jim,
That's an excellent idea. I think we'll investigate.

The only downside is the little indicator stays on saying it is time to change your filter. While a bit OCD about such things (light switches in the house must be in a certain position ) I can live with that... I do suggest the quick connector kit.

Actually I'm with Frank. In rooms in which we have multiple switches for the same lights (e.g., bedroom, closet, family room, etc.) I like specific ones to be up for on. I also set the time on all appliances and electronics so I they don't blink or give me blue ---. Then again, you all know I am OCD about lots of things.
Speaking of OCD, ran across a post from tobb from Rebecca, anyone hear from her?
