New cocktail hour recipe, it is very good.
Mason Jar Bourbonade
1 lemon 3 Tbs sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup bourbon Crushed ice Club soda
Halve lemon. Cut lemon half into quarters; reserve remaining lemon half for another use. Place lemon quarters and sugar in a pint-size jar. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, muddle lemon wedges. Add water, bourbon, and ice. Cover and shake for about 20 seconds or until sugar is dissolved. Top with club soda.
I did find that the 3 Tbsps. of sugar was a bit too much for me and reduced it the second time to 2 Tbsps. which suited me a lot better.

Sounds like a hangover in the making ... especially if drunk in hot sun. Dangerous.

I need to try this. Outta bourbon, maybe I'll make it with Rye instead (the worlds best whisky for 2016 version of it no less)

Tried it. Used Rye, a lot less sugar and only a little soda. Very dangerous indeed. It's 34 c here today, good thing I have to make these myself.

I made my first one with Jack Danials. The second one (on the second day) I made it with Maker's Mark.l Both were very good. Glad you liked it. I do like simple, easy to prepare cocktails.

Reporting back that we made 8 of these in mason jar mugs with rye and less sugar....they went down way too easy. thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! With the weather here back up in the 90's for the next few days, I'll be cracking out the bourbon myself!

I've since made these in real mason jars (though can't drink out of the damn things) with Makers Mark, very lovely. It will become a staple I think.
