No new posts in about a month, so far as I can tell.

I was wondering about it, too. Didn't think that everyone was busy getting the garden ready, like me!

Linda,
We've lost some members who've gone off to do other things. FYI, that includes some of the other moderators, so I've disabled new user registration.
Cookaholics will continue to be online as long as members are using it, but I wouldn't expect it to get active again.

It is kind of a shame because I am as guilty as anyone. It is just much easier to post a question or a photo to FB, and I am already there so much. But honestly, this is better archive for trading recipes and knowing things will be here later if we need them. FB definitely is NOT.
The board still has value!

I have been concerned about the same issue. And I, also, am just as guilty. I'm not a great contributor, but I gawk a lot and learn a lot from this site.

Cookaholics has had a great run ... at 9 years old, it's lasted a lot longer than the original CI boards did!
But, the web has moved on from bulletin boards to other things, at least for the time being. Our attempts to make the board mobile-friendly didn't work out, and people have moved on for a variety of reasons.
Anyway, it only costs me about $20/year to keep the Board running, so it's here as a resource whenever you want it. At least ... as long as the PHPBB project keeps publishing security updates.

Thanks Josh. I too am guilty of gawking and not contributing but I do appreciate the trove of information shared by everyone and the ability to continue the camaraderie that has formed over the years. Nance

Thank you for hosting Josh!
Echoing what others have said, I, too, seem to always pick up something here. It's nice to visit a place where I don't see constant ads or a profiling or of my data.
When Kimball left America's test kitchen I signed up for the online recipe service. They added a comment section under the recipes. It's not anything like the old board but I found it interesting that they are interested in comments.

Unfortunately it doesn't mean they are "interested" in comments. "User engagement" is a huge deal for getting repeat visitors and a lot of page views. The very common style of question "What are your favourite xxxx" type of question at the end of a post is for that. Or maybe saying something outrageous. Having an active comment section can really add user engagement.
So, I would say they definitely want user engagement. Whether they read or participate in the comments, or are just going through the motions and hope the users like it, is another matter.
