I need to make a birthday cake that can serve up to 11 people. I have a couple of recipes that are my go-to’s, but I am thinking I should try something new. I’m looking for some inspiration! Anyone have ideas for me?

KAF has a chocolate cake with raspberries that is the best chocolate cake I've had. It is even better than CI triple mousse cake imho. It is easy to make and the mousse filling alone is worth it. I used that instead of the frosting to cover it, but you could do a different type of frosting if you need to pipe, etc.https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/chocolate-mousse-cake-with-raspberries-recipe

If it’s chocolate you want I love the Black Pearl from Epicurious. The book The Art of The Cake by Bruce Healy and Paul Bugat is filled with wonderful recipes.

Omg, those cakes both look amazing! Unfortunately, when I was trying to decide between the two, I found out that one attendee can’t eat chocolate, so I quickly reverted to my white cake recipe and served it with berries. It was a huge hit, but I will be making both of these recipes in the future. Thanks again....

The KAF cake is huge. The first time I made it, I scaled it to two 9" square pans. The second time I did 4 Goldtouch 8" pans, intending to freeze 2 of them. Steve talked me into doing 4 layers. While it was delicious, it was way too much for 2 people. Next time I will freeze 2 of the layers. BTW, the first time I made it, I forgot to add the oil and it was still super moist. I froze a couple of individual slices, raspberries and all and they were still great.

Well, today you'll have to make one of those original cakes that you were considering. After all, it's National Chocolate Cake Day!
