I don't know if it belongs here, but what's everyone cooking? I'm always inspired when I see what others are doing in their kitchens.
Tonight is carnitas. Recipe from Homesick Texan blog (adapted from Diana Kennedy). Homemade tortillas also from Homesick Texan. Tomatillo salsa from One Plate and guac (my own mish-mash).

It is worth noting that the "Homesick Texan" site also has a strong opinion of the beans in chili issue.

I am constantly amazed where you can slip that topic in; I thought the baptisim thread took the cake but knowing the preferences of obscure web sites is very impressive. I assume it is the lack of beans in chili that creates this wizardry??????

To quote Rush..."Talent on loan...from God!" I actually ran across the Homesick Texan site a week or two ago, she now lives in New York City...but has kept a firm grasp on her culinary integrity. I admit...the Baptism plug was a stretch...

Since Frank didn't cringe when I mentioned Homesick Texan, I went to browse through her blog again and found Ninfa's green sauce. A concoction of tomatillos, green tomatoes, jalapenos, avocados, cilantro and sour cream. It got rave reviews, so I'm going to try that tonight too.

It's plain old spaghetti tonight. Mommy doesn't have a whole lot of oomph.

Has she been to Hill Country BBQ? They got their recipes from Kreutz's in Lockhart. It's...it's...it's the best BBQ I've had outside of Tejas. Really. (With NYC prices to accompany too....) ...lou

Now if we had PHOTOS on this site, Frank could insert one of the fabulous Hill Country BBQ that we all attended there several years ago. Best time I've ever had in a cement block building!
Tonight for us it was my Bean Stew Casserole (again)....hubby had it on noodles and I had it on canned green beans, to cut the white carbs somewhat (no Frank I am not making this up). I made bacon bits to sprinkle on top of the BSC.
